I was recently having a clear out and came across a few boxes of old design magazines from 2001 - 2005.
A quick skim through copies of Creative Review, Computer Arts and Design Week will tell you a lot about the trends and big moments of the past decade.
Considering how digital our world has become and the advances in technology each year, this obviously makes all of the tutorials and content on the internet out of date. But we still use traditional printing techniques and these magazines are full of great tips and designers testing the boundaries of printing.
Printing techniques such as the benefits of HoloPRISM® Holographic Paper. Metallized papers and holographic papers used to visually enhance the March 2002 issue of creative reviews cover.
I've Found lots of little gem articles, including some on my favourite brands like United Colors of Benetton's work on "make food the issue", this reminds me of my days through University with Oliviero Toscani's being one of the designers I looked up too.
Although design is always evolving, and not everything is relevant in these old magazines, I believe it's worth looking through these past issues and I will be enjoying the next few months as I do.
